Hello block leaders!
There's a lot going on as the weather gets warmer, and I wanted to make sure
you all knew about these things. Do not hesitate to contact me if you're
interested in one or all of these.
--A group of concerned citizens are meeting at the Waverly Farmers Market
(33rd and Barclay area) to walk around and tear down the "We Buy Houses"
signs that have been popping up around the neighborhood. These signs are
illegal and it is a scam. They will be meeting at noon if you are concerned
about this issue and would like to help. Please pass this on to any
neighbors you know might want to be involved.
--Sharon Guida of the 2700 Block of Maryland Avenue has been working with
the JHU students to help them become more invested in the community. JHU
student volunteers will be available to assist with community beautification
projects on April 15th. If you have been considering a spring garden
clean-up, greening project or other activity, please let me know as we can
provide additional volunteers on April 15th from Hopkins.
--I sent around an email about the opportunity to get free plants from Civic
Works. You must make an appointment to pick up these plants!! Anyone can go,
as long as an appointment is made. These plants are for public spaces only.
That information is attached at the end of this email.
--Please RSVP for the Volunteer Recognition Luau at the Village Learning
Place!! It's on April 29th from 3pm-6pm, and you may bring a guest. This
party is for you! Jamie, the VLP volunteer coordinator, and I have been
gathering some fabulous prizes to be raffled off and given to the wearer or
the best Hawaiian shirt! There will be food, music and fun. Please be there.
Call or email to let me know that you are coming.
Thanks everybody. That's it for now! I hope you're all enjoying this lovely
weather!
