Help yourselves. It's located at the vacant lot on the corner of Whitridge and Greenmount. Whitridge runs east/west and is between 27th & 28th St. On Wednesday, over 6o freshman students mulched 100+ trees, cleaned 2 vacant lots, several alleys and streets, and spruced up the community garden at Barclay and 26th St. Throughout the day over 700 Hopkins students preformed service throughout the area. Many thanks to Hopkins folks, Greater Homewood, Parks and People, CVCBD staff and area residents who assisted in leading teams. Please encourage your block to get involved in some weekend projects. Let us know if you need supplies. A few tid-bits of information about me; I am a recent graduate of Goucher College whereI majored in International Intercultural Studies. This year I will be working with you to continue and build up the Block Leader program. So I figured I would introduce myself to you all in an email first so when I call you on the phone you won't wonder who the heck I am. If you have any ideas or comments about the program, I am very excited to hear all of them. Please call or email me anytime with any and all concerns or questions. I am really looking forward to meeting and working with everyone. I only hope I can live up to the high standards that Jeni has left behind. (Oh and Jeni is still in the area if you would like me to pass on a message to her.) Also, we need to start thinking about the date of our next/ my first Block Leader meeting. Here are a few possible dates. If everyone could email me back with the dates they can and cannot make that would be very helpful; hopefully we can all find a date that works for everyone. The earlier we have the meeting the better, that way we can discuss and get ready for the quad rep meetings Tuesday October 17th, and the mayors clean up day October 21st. Here is the list. Wednesday, October 4th Thursday, October 5th Wendesday, October 11th Thursday, October 12th Thursday, October 19th The meetings will usually be held at 7pm.
